Bio

Zen Du is a ceramic artist, Professor of Art, and art educator whose interdisciplinary practice centers on material inquiry and the transformative potential of art. Born in Russia in 1983, she earned a BA in Linguistics in Russia before moving to the United States. She received her BFA from Appalachian State University, North Carolina, in 2012 and her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, California, in 2016.
Du has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions throughout California and nationally, as well as internationally. Her exhibitions include a solo exhibition at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in California and a solo exhibition at C.R.E.T.A. Rome in Italy. Her work has also been exhibited on Hydra Island, Greece, and in galleries and exhibition spaces throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and California’s Central Valley.
Her work is held in public collections in Maine and California, as well as in Rome, Italy, and on Hydra Island, Greece. Her work and career have been featured in Studio Art Magazine, the Marin Independent Journal, Art Business Magazine, The Appeal Democrat and other print and online publications.
In addition to her studio practice, Du is a Professor of Art at Yuba College in Marysville, California, where she teaches studio art and art history. She lives in Chico, California.
